Help Center Updated

by Mario Lozano on Jan 21

in New Features, Updates & Fixes

We updated the PR Leap Help Center and moved it from the blog to the main site. It’s divided into the following five sections:

  • General FAQ, Copyright, etc;
  • Press release: submit, edit, delete, add text links, etc;
  • Multimedia: videos, images, PDFs, and MP3s;
  • Payments, invoices, refunds;
  • Your Account.

As announced on November 26, 2007, PR Leap has discontinued its free service after four and one half years. The decision was not easy, but after much consideration we decided a change in course was the best thing for PR Leap.

When we launched PR Leap in June of 2003, there was only PR Newswire, Business Wire, Market Wire, PRWeb and a few other players. After PRWeb discontinued there free service a year ago, we experienced a boom in new members seeking free distribution. In addition, a slew of new sites offering free distribution opened shop overnight. So for all of 2007, we found ourselves working hard at filtering out all the spam from quality press releases, which left little time for developing new features and distribution channels for PR Leap.

After much debate, we realized the only way we can compete overtime is by discontinuing our free service and focusing on developing new features and distribution channels.

Although we no longer provide a free service, PR Leap still offers some of the most affordable press release distribution services among the leading wires. Our distributions packages are the following:

Premium $149 (Our Best Plan)

  • 5 Media Attachments (Google Videos, YouTube Videos, news photos, audio, documents or logos)
  • Google News1
  • AP National 2
  • UPI National2
  • Moreover CI-Metabase Inclusion
  • Ask.com News3
  • Next Day Distribution
  • Homepage Placement
  • RSS/XML Feed Inclusion
  • 2000 word limit (1,000 more than Plus)

Plus $99

  • 1 Media Attachment (Google Videos, YouTube Videos, news photos, audio, documents or logo)
  • Google News1
  • AP National 2
  • UPI National 2
  • Moreover CI-Metabase Inclusion
  • Ask.com News3
  • Next Day Distribution
  • Homepage placement
  • RSS/XML Feed Inclusion
  • Up to 1000 Word Limit (400 more than basic)

Basic $49

  • Google News1
  • Ask.com News3
  • Moreover CI-Metabase Inclusion
  • Homepage placement
  • RSS/XML Feed
  • Up to 600 word limit

We would like to thank all our members support through out the years. PR LEAP still offers a free account, which allows you to make changes to any press release in the system prior to January 1, 2008.

Sincerely,

Mario and Merrick Lozano
co-founders of

The system update was completed by 5a.m. this morning. Some system bugs have been reported already, including the “pay hold” bug after you edit a press release. By no means do we expect you to pay us to review a release already in the system. We appreciate your patience. All the bugs will be fixed by the end of the day.

We apologize for any inconvenience. If you find a bug, please let us know via the help desk: http://www.prleap.com/contact_us

Sincerely,

Mario and Merrick Lozano

Starting January 1, 2008, PR LEAP will no longer offer a free press release distribution.

After four years we have decided to phase out the free service, so we can re-purpose our time and energy on building more features and tools for prleap.com. This will also allow us to spend more time verifying all accounts and vetting all press releases, which will help safeguard the service in the future from evildoers.

As announced last week, PR LEAP soon will allow you to send out a social media release with video, news photos, audio, documents, and logos. These new features are part of a major service update that will rolled out in December. The service update includes a new and improved user interface and checkout process. We have also revamped our press release distribution packages into the following three:

Premium $149 (Our Best Plan)

  • 5 Media Attachments (Google Videos, YouTube Videos, news photos, audio, documents or logos)
  • Google News1
  • AP National 2
  • UPI National2
  • Moreover CI-Metabase Inclusion
  • Ask.com News3
  • Next Day Distribution
  • Homepage Placement
  • RSS/XML Feed Inclusion
  • 2000 word limit (1,000 more than Plus)

Plus $99

  • 1 Media Attachment (Google Videos, YouTube Videos, news photos, audio, documents or logo)
  • Google News1
  • AP National 2
  • UPI National 2
  • Moreover CI-Metabase Inclusion
  • Ask.com News3
  • Next Day Distribution
  • Homepage placement
  • RSS/XML Feed Inclusion
  • Up to 1000 Word Limit (400 more than basic)

Basic $49

  • Google News1
  • Ask.com News3
  • Moreover CI-Metabase Inclusion
  • Homepage placement
  • RSS/XML Feed
  • Up to 600 word limit

The decision was not easy, but after much consideration we strongly believe it’s for the better. All press releases in the archive before Jan. 1, 2008 will stay online at no cost. Any edits and changes made to any press release are always subject for review.

Sincerely,

Mario and Merrick Lozano

Soon you will be able to send out a press release with video, news photos, mp3s, documents, etc. via PRLEAP. This new feature is part of a major update to prleap.com, which will be rolled out soon. As part of the update, the PRLEAP user interface has been revamped, making it easier to submit a news release, upload media and checkout.

Below are two screen captures of the new PRLEAP. As you can tell, our new user interface was inspired by two services we really like: Apple’s .Mac and 37 Signals’ Basecamp.
